How to Set and Accomplish Your Goals in 2025: A Practical Guide for Real Results

How to Set and Accomplish Your Goals in 2025: A Practical Guide for Real Results

Every January, people flood gyms, buy planners, and set goals they’ll never achieve. Why? Because most people focus on the what instead of the how. They set goals without understanding the deeper processes that drive real transformation.

If you’re tired of the same cycle of setting goals and falling short, this is for you.

In this post, I’ll break down how you can align your goals with your identity, leverage Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques, and use a system to guarantee success in 2025.

Step 1: Change Who You Are Before Changing What You Do

Most people approach goal-setting backward.

They focus on what they want to achieve—like losing weight or earning more money—without thinking about who they need to become. This is where most resolutions fail.

The Shift: Identity Over Outcomes

To be more aligned with your goals, you must step into the identity of the person who has already achieved them.

Instead of saying, “I want to write a book,” say, “I am a writer.” The identity shift changes everything because your actions will naturally align with how you see yourself.

  • If you want to lose weight, become someone who prioritizes health.
  • If you want to start a business, see yourself as an entrepreneur first.

Your identity drives your habits, and your habits drive your results.

But the problem is that shifting your identity isn’t just about thinking differently—it’s about rewiring your unconscious mind.

Use EFT to Break Old Patterns and Reinforce the Shift

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, is a powerful tool for releasing emotional blocks tied to your old identity and embedding a new one.

How EFT Works: EFT combines light tapping on specific acupressure points with focused affirmations. This helps calm the nervous system and clear subconscious resistance to change.

Steps to Tap Into Your New Identity:

  1. Acknowledge Your Old Identity:

    • Start by stating aloud the limiting belief or identity you want to release, even if it feels uncomfortable. For example:
      • “Even though I’ve always seen myself as someone who procrastinates, I deeply and completely accept myself.”
    • Visualize yourself with this old identity. See yourself from a third person perspective on a postcard sized picture in your imagination.
    • Tap on the karate chop point (side of the hand) as you say this three times.
  2. Release the Resistance:

    • Move through the following points: eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, and under the arm.
    • At each point, state something related to letting go of the old identity:
      • “I’m releasing my fear of failure.”
      • “I’m letting go of the belief that I’m not good enough.”
      • “I am no longer tied to the habits of my old self.”
  3. Reinforce the New Identity:

    • After releasing resistance, tap through the same points while affirming your new identity. For example:
      • “I am a consistent and successful writer.”
      • “I am a healthy person who takes care of my body.”
      • “I am an entrepreneur who makes confident decisions.”
    • As you tap, imagine embodying this new identity fully. Feel the shift emotionally and physically.
  4. Anchor the New Identity:

    • End the session with a deep breath and a final affirmation:
      • “I am now fully aligned with the person I choose to become.”

Why This Works

When you combine third-person visualization with EFT tapping, you’re working on multiple levels: consciously imagining a new version of yourself while rewiring subconscious beliefs and emotions.

This dual approach bridges the gap between who you are today and who you want to become, ensuring the transformation takes root not just in your mind but in your habits and actions.

By using these techniques regularly, your identity begins to shift. And when your identity shifts, everything else—your habits, mindset, and results—naturally follows.
